Important Race Details

Parking for Event and Packet Pickup:

Parking for "everything Showdown" will be in the multi level parking garage located on Strada Di Villagio, next to the Montelago Casino. There will be NO PARKING allowed at the bottom of the hill!!

Directions to the parking lot:

  • turn onto Lake Las Vegas Parkway from Lake Mead Parkway
  • Go through the 1st roundabout
  • Turn Right at the 1st Stop sign onto Stada Di Villagio (Montelago Village)
  • Turn left into the parking garage.
Pay attention to all signs and/or volunteers, the safety of the athletes depends it it!!
  • Athletes may ride their bikes down the road to transition or walk them through the Village.
  • Instructions and directions to packet pick-up/transition will be posted at the parking garage elevator/stairs and throughout the Village.

 

 

Transition Area, Body Marking and Timing Chips:

All athletes will have their body marked by race volunteers prior to entering the Transition Area. Please be sure to give the volunteers the correct age and race bib number when getting marked.

The transition area location will be confirmed in the coming months.

It is recommended that all athletes bring a towel to put under their transition gear. Transition, will be accessible to only athletes with a bib/bike # and/or body marking.

No outside assistance may enter the transition area.

**This race will be chip timed. After the race you will be able to access your timing splits for, Overall time, swim, T1, Bike, T2, and run. Your timing chip will be issued at packet pick-up. All athletes are responsible for the return of their timing chip after they cross the finish line. Anyone that has lost their timing chip before or after the race will be responsible for a $20.00 fee to the timing company.

** Each athlete is responsible for crossing each timing mat. Just being in the “general area” of the mat does not always work and could cause the athlete to have incorrect split times or no time recorded at all. Each athlete must ensure a secure fit of the strap when issued your chip.

Packet Pick-up:

Packet Pick-up will be at the Riva conference Center in the Montelago Village, next to the Swim Start dock, from 4pm to 8pm on the day before the race. There will NOT be a race day packet pick-up!!!!!! Check the "Schedule of Events" for updates times. Only athletes with a photo ID will be allowed to pick up their packet. NO Exceptions!

All Relay members must show up at packet pick-up to sign your waiver.

If you are a USAT member you MUST show a current membership card or you will have to pay the one day license fee. If you forget your card, prepare to pay the $10 one day license fee! the NEW registration site on ImAthlete allows you to buy your 1 day license online with your credit card!!

All athletes will receive a swim cap (required to be worn during the swim), a bike number and a run bib number at packet pick-up. You will be assigned a swim wave time as well as pick up your race t-shirt* and a  goody bag filled with swag from the race sponsors.

Although we anticipate that the majority of questions are answered right here on the website, nothing can take the place of previewing the course and coming to the Pre Race briefings.This year (2011) Race briefings are MANDATORY to attend. They will be held indoors at the Riva Conference center with a nic and speakers!!!! The briefing times will be posted on the Schedule of Events page here on the website. Any new additions and/or course changes will be discussed and a physical walkthrough of the start, transition and finish line will be offered by the race directors. * Anyone that signs up after March 15th may not receive a race t-shirt! There are no exceptions if we run out of shirts. Sign up early and secure your memory!

 

Course Directions and Maps:

You can now view the course maps online at One Million Revolutions.

All Swim Courses will be an in water start. All Swim courses will be out and back from the Lake Las Vegas Marina dock.

All Bike Courses will exit transition onto the road (only road) and up the hill past the Montelago Casino and Parking Garage on your right.

  • Right onto Lake Las Vegas Pkwy.
  • Right on Montelago Blvd.
  • ALL bikes will follow Montelago Blvd. around the resort.
  • Continue straight through (around to the right) each roundabout to Lake Mead Pkwy.
  • Left on Lake Mead Pkwy
  • Follow Lake Mead Parkway into Lake Mead National Recreation Area. At the Gate To lake Mead, stay to the right, DO NOT STOP. You will be counted by Park Officials as you enter.
Once you enter Lake Mead, folllow the directions below for your respective race distance.

Long Course Bike:

  • Less than 1/4 mile past the Lake Mead Entrance, all Long Course bikes will turn left from Lakeshore to Northshore Drive.
  • Northshore Drive to the turnaround. (You will see signs leading up to the turnaround, there will be Police Auxillary Officers stopping traffic and there will be an aid station at the turnaround which is located at Lake Mead Mile Marker #23).
  • Northshore Drive back to the intersection at Lakeshore Dr.
  • Right turn on Lakeshore Dr.
  • Exit Lake Mead
  • Right on Lake Las Vegas Pkwy.
  • Right into Montelago Village
  • Downhill to Transition.

Intermediate Bike Course:

  • Lakeshore Drive to the Turnaround at the Fish Hatchery.
  • Lakeshore Drive through the exit of Lake Mead NRA
  • Right on Lake Las Vegas Parkway
  • Right into Montelago Village
  • Downhill to Transition.

Sprint Bike Course:

  • Lakeshore Drive to the Turnaround at Las Vegas Bay.
  • Lakeshore Drive through the exit of Lake Mead NRA
  • Right on Lake Las Vegas Parkway
  • Right into Montelago Village
  • Downhill to Transition.

Aid Stations:

All aid stations for each race will be supported. Each station will have water, Hammer Nutrition's HEED (High Endurance Electrolyte Drink) and Hammer Gel.

Long Course - There will be an Aid Station on the Long Bike Course at the Turnaround point at 28 miles. There will be a bottle swap. Please ONLY toss your bottle at the exchange site!!!! Any  bottle removed from a bike before or after the exchange site will result in a time penalty for littering (a USAT) rule. There will be volunteers on hand to assist.

The Long Run Course will have 9 aid stations.

Intermediate Course - There will not be an aid station on the Intermediate Bike Course.

The Intermediate Run Course will have 5 aid stations.

Sprint Course - There will not be an aid station on the Sprint Course.

The Sprint Course will have 4 aid stations.

Finisher Medals and Awards:

All finishers will receive a custom, die cast, finisher’s medal with a custom colored ribbon!

Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 males and the top 3 females overall for the race.

The rest of the field will receive a custom plaque, for the top 3 places in each age group. An Award Certificate will be presented to athletes to claim a custom photo plaque provided by Zazoosh, our Official Race Photographer. Award certificates will be distributed at the awards ceremony starting with the Sprint Distance at 6:00pm after the race. Each race will have its own ceremony and time. Refund Policy:

In the event that you are unable to compete in our race, Sunset Racing will permit a transfer of your registration to another of Sunset Racing’s Events, assuming the transfer notification is received 30 days prior to the race that you are registered for. This transfer cannot be to another person and no transfers will be permitted within 30 days of the event.

There are no refunds for race cancellation due to weather or the effects of weather.
